USTA Southern crowned six champions at the 2016 55 & Over Combo Doubles Southern Sectional Championships, played March 3-5.
South Carolina was the clear winner, taking home four of the six championships. Louisiana had two finalists.
The weekend event featured 60 men’s and women’s teams with more than 585 players from nine states competing in three levels. The Yarbrough Tennis Center served as tournament headquarters. Other matches were played at Moore’s Mill Club Fitness Center in Auburn and the Grand National Marriott Resort in Opelika, Ala.
Southern Combo 18 & Over and 40 & Over teams will compete March 10-13 in Mobile, Ala. More than 1,500 players are scheduled to play.
