Eastern, SoCal and Texas prevail at 6.0/8.0/10.0 Mixed Nationals

TUCSON, ARIZ. – After a weekend filled with competitive mixed doubles action, three teams from different sections were crowned champions at the USTA League Mixed 18 & Over 6.0/8.0/10.0 Championships, held at the Hilton El Conquistador Resort.

In 6.0 action, the Eastern section team from Westfield, N.J., prevailed in a hard-fought championship match over the Caribbean section team from Ponce, P.R., 2-1. The New Jersey squad had an easier time earlier in the day with a shutout win in the semifinals over the Intermountain team from Las Vegas, 3-0.

The 8.0 Southern California squad from Santa Ana showed its resilience with a win in the final over the Mid-Atlantic section team from Montgomery, Md., 2-1. The Santa Ana players advanced to the final match with a convincing semifinal win earlier in the day over the Eastern section squad from Buffalo, N.Y., 3-0.

The last team to be crowned champions was the 10.0 Texas section team from Dallas, which played inspired tennis to take the title over the Southern section team from Sandy Springs, Ga., 2-1. The Dallas squad had an equally competitive semifinal win that morning over the Missouri Valley section team from Overland Park, Kan., 2-1.
