RE: USTA Events & Programs Suspension Information
We hope everyone on this communication and within the USTA Georgia family is safe and healthy. Many of us know of members of the tennis community that have been affected by COVID-19 and our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to them. We also appreciate your support, patience and understanding during the last 2 ½ months in which all of our USTA programming was suspended due the COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 26th, USTA National announced that the extension of any USTA events & programs suspension beyond May 31st would be at the discretion of the 17 USTA sections individually. Accordingly, USTA Southern has allowed their 9 state organizations (Georgia being one) the authority to determine if/when events and programs within their state could resume.
After discussion and careful consideration, the USTA Georgia Board of Directors has made the following determinations regarding the June 1st “restart” of all USTA Georgia programming:
Adult League & Junior Team Tennis programming – This decision will be made by the local Community Tennis Association in consultation with USTA Georgia staff and by following where applicable the USTA “Return to Play” guidelines. In addition, any and all government and health policies established by the host county(s) must be followed.
Information on the cancellation of the 2020 USTA Georgia Adult League State Championships can be found here:
In addition, the 2020 USTA Georgia State Junior Team Tennis Championships, scheduled for July 24-26 have also been cancelled.
Adult & Junior Tournaments – This decision will be made by the local tournament officials (Tournament Director, etc) in consultation with USTA Georgia staff and by following where applicable the USTA “Return to Play” guidelines, along with the USTA Georgia Player & Spectator Guidelines. In addition, any and all government and health policies established by the host county(s) must be followed.
All other programming under the USTA umbrella (Tennis on Campus, Schools, Social Leagues, etc.) is permitted to restart as well on June 1st where possible, following where applicable the USTA “Return to Play” guidelines. In addition, any and all government and health policies established by the host county(s) must be followed.
