Ann Brady, USTA Mississippi's Long-time Executive Director, Announces Retirement

January 22, 2016 10:33 AM
Ann Brady began working in the Mississippi office in 1995.

The Mississippi Tennis Association (USTA Mississippi) announced that Executive Director Ann Brady will be retiring this spring.
Ann has been the face of MS tennis for 20 years. She was hired in February of 1995 by then USTA Mississippi President Gaines Dyer to take the helm as the new Executive Director. She hit the ground running and has never looked back. She has served with eleven USTA Mississippi Board Presidents. Over her 20 years, her staff has grown to six full time staff, three part time staff and Southern’s Tennis Service Representative works out of the MS office as well. The office started out on County Line Road in Jackson, then moved into the historic Fondren District in 1997 and bought their present day office in Fondren in 2003.

In addition to serving MS, Ann has served two terms as Chair of the Executive Directors group at USTA Southern and has served on the Community Development, Diversity and League committees for USTA Southern as well.

When Ann was diagnosed with breast cancer, the style and grace she had was a true inspiration to many. Her staff was amazed with her strength, courage and determination to beat it, and that is exactly what she did!  She showed everyone what Faith, Courage and Determination can do!

The highlight of Ann’s “tennis playing career” was being the captain of the 4.5 Women’s team that won the USTA League Championship in Tucson, Ariz. in 1990. Ann began playing tennis in 1978 when her kids were little, she wasn’t working and she was looking for something to do. Now that her career is almost over, she plans to get out on the courts more often, travel with her husband, Dan, and play with her grandchildren, Jesse and Will.
